On September 26, Chair Zhuang Rongwen had a working meeting with Vice Chair Francis Gurry in Beijing. They exchanged views on the future direction of the international organization of the WIC and how to make the 2023 Wuzhen Summit a success. Secretary-General Ren Xianliang was also present at the meeting. Zhuang Rongwen spoke highly of Francis Gurry's outstanding contributions to the organization and development of the Wuzhen Summit as well as the development of WIC over the years. He said that the WIC, as an international organization, need to have a long-term vision, hold regional and thematic forums and events in an innovative fashion, introduce a series of public goods, and deepen the exchanges in cyberspace and global cooperation in the digital field. Francis Gurry said that after ten years of development, the Wuzhen Summit has become one of the most important Internet exchange and cooperation platforms in the world. He said that as the vice chair of the WIC, he is willing to make great efforts to promote the development of the WIC and help build a global Internet platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.

On August 31, Secretary-General Ren Xianliang met with Zhao Cheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, in Zhejiang. Ren said that 2023 marks the 10th Wuzhen Summit and Zhejiang has long supported the preparations of the Wuzhen Summit. He looked forward to working with Zhejiang to make the Summit a great success. Zhao said that Zhejiang attaches great importance to the preparations of the Wuzhen Summit and will focus on the implementation work and make all endeavors for this year’s Summit.

On August 4, Secretary-General Ren Xianliang attended Singapore's 58th National Day and Singapore Armed Forces Day Reception, and exchanged views with Peter Tan, Singapore’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Ren Xianliang said that the government of Singapore has long supported the Wuzhen Summit and has sent representatives to attend the Summit for many years. The WIC is willing to work with the government and various sectors of Singapore to address new challenges in cyberspace and jointly build a community with a shared future in cyberspace. He introduced the development plans of the WIC and invited Ambassador Tan to attend the 2023 Wuzhen Summit. Ambassador Tan said that he welcomes the WIC to strengthen exchanges with various sectors in Singapore and is willing to build a closer cooperation between the two sides.

On August 22, Secretary-General Ren Xianliang was invited to attend the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the US-China Business Council (USCBC). At the meeting, Ren Xianliang had an exchange with Craig Allen, President of USCBC. Ren Xianliang pointed out that USCBC has long supported the Wuzhen Summit and made important contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace. He said that this year marks the 10th Wuzhen Summit and invited Mr. Allen to attend this year’s Summit. Mr. Allen said that he will actively support the activities of the WIC and looks forward to attending this year’s Wuzhen Summit.

On August 25, Secretary-General Ren Xianliang met with Jiang Tao, Co-founder and Senior Vice President of iFlytek, in Beijing. Ren Xianliang said that the advancement of AI and large language models is crucial to the development of the Internet and fully acknowledged iFlytek’s achievements in related fields. He also said that this year marks the 10th Wuzhen Summit and invited iFlytek to participate in this year’s Summit. Jiang Tao said that iFlytek always adheres to the core technological innovation at the source and actively promotes the application of AI products and industrial outcomes. iFlytek is willing to utilize its own advantages to get more deeply involved in the activities and support the development of the WIC.

On August 30, the inaugural meeting of the WIC AI Working Group was held in Beijing. Nearly 40 members of the working group, including world-renowned enterprises, experts and scholars in the field of AI, attended the meeting, and engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on the goals of the working group, the framework of the research report on Generative AI to be published, and so on.

On August 10, the WIC launched the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP). The program is created by the WIC as a brand for its regular activities. It aims to regularly select outstanding youth leaders in the global Internet field to closely follow the frontier trends of the Internet technology, industry and governance. It plans to conduct a series of activities including training, forum, dialogue and research and build an international exchange and cooperation platform for the youth to learn from each other. During the Wuzhen Summit, the selected candidates will also have the opportunity to have in-depth exchanges with the senior management of the WIC, high-level representatives from other international organizations, governments, leading global Internet enterprises, and famous experts and scholars.

From September 2 to 6, the WIC debuted at China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) and launched an online exhibition. At CIFTIS, the WIC Introduced the Wuzhen Summit, Release and Presentation of Practice Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace, Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, the Light of Internet Expo,“Straight to Wuzhen” Global Internet Competition and other related events. At the same time, the online exhibition also showcased the important activities of the WIC as an international organization in the past year and the development history of the Wuzhen Summit in the past decade, and introduced the mission of jointly building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The Light of Internet Expo 2023, hosted by the WIC and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, will be held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang in early November. Featuring the international, professional, innovative, interactive and practical elements, the Expo will invite the world's leading companies and innovative enterprises to display and launch cutting-edge technologies and new products in the fields of digital technology, intelligent manufacturing of the future, digital village, digital culture and tourism, digital education, and cyberspace governance and strive to enable the participants of the Summit and professional audience to appreciate the digital virtual space in multiple dimensions and fields, and achieve cooperation results.
