Wang Zunlong, head of Brand Publicity and ESG and chief compliance officer of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, outlined a strategic vision for AI and data-driven transformation in China's healthcare sector at the Digital and Intelligent Health Forum held in Xi'an on July 22 as part of the 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum.

Wang argued that the industry's growth logic has fundamentally shifted. "The past two decades relied on traffic, generics, and medical insurance expansion," he said. "The next two decades will be defined by data, AI, and health management."

Noting that all top 10 global pharmaceutical companies have embraced AI, Wang said Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group has been actively exploring the field through a dual-drive strategy of full-chain data empowerment and rigorous validation of AI applications.

Wang identified Xi'an as an ideal base for medical data and AI integration, citing its strengths in medical resources, research innovation, talent and national strategic support. He said the company would use the city as a starting point to promote the collaborative development of medical data and AI.

"Medical data is a key production resource in the new era; AI is a key production tool; and Healthy China is a key strategic goal," Wang said, vowing to work with Xi'an to build a benchmark for medical data and AI integration.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
