2023 Award Ceremony of “Straight to Wuzhen” Global Internet Competition
Press Conference on the Closing of the 2023 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summi
As an integral part of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, the Release and Presentation of Outstanding Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace has gradually become an important platform for promoting international exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace since the event was first held in 2021. The event showcases the global practices of exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace from five aspects: internet infrastructure construction, online cultural exchanges and mutual learning, innovative development of the digital economy, cybersecurity maintenance, and global governance in cyberspace.
A review committee consisting of authoritative experts from various fields around the world was established, which is chaired by Zhuang Rongwen, chair of the WIC, and assisted by Francis Gurry, former director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization and vice chair of the WIC, and Ren Xianliang, Secretary-General of the WIC.
After comprehensive evaluation and selection by the Review Committee, a total of 13 outstanding cases were ultimately chosen. These cases demonstrated a high level of alignment with the stated principles, had significant international influence, showcased remarkable social value, and offered diverse presentation formats. This event will invite representatives of the outstanding practices to tell their success stories in international exchanges and cooperation in cyberspace.
Commemorative trophies will be awarded to practitioners, and commemorative certificates of Excellence in Organization will be given to the units that have made outstanding achievements during the organization of this event.

Since 2016, the Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements has been successfully held for seven consecutive years and has played a significant role in encouraging scientific and technological innovation and advocating technological exchanges and cooperation.
To build a higher standard innovative display platform for world's leading Internet scientific and technological achievements, the World Internet Conference(WIC) has comprehensively upgraded the event to the World Internet Conference Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology and will hold a grand ceremony to award the leading Internet scientific and technological achievements of the year to the world, and to highlight the remarkable contributions made by Internet players.
For the first time, the achievements are divided into three categories - basic research, key technology, and engineering research and development, and have received extensive attention and positive responses from the international Internet community. The achievements submitted by parties in countries and regions including China, the United States, Russia, Finland, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates to showcase new progress in the frontier technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence, 5G/6G, Internet of Vehicles, Big Data, Cybersecurity, High-performance Chips, and Digital Health.
The WIC established the World Internet Conference Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology Review Committee, which is jointly composed of nearly 40 experts in the global internet community. We are honored to invite Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to serve as the committee chair, David Farber, pioneer of the American Internet, to serve as director of Basic Research, Wu Jianping, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, to serve as director of Key Technology, and Kil-nam Chon, father of internet in South Korea, to serve as the director of Engineering Research and Development.
Following the principles of fairness, impartiality, objectivity and authority, the Review Committee selected 15 annual leading achievements. The awardees will release and display their cutting-edge achievements at the conference and will be awarded trophies and certificates issued by the WIC.
In addition, the WIC will continue to award the "Excellence in Organization" commemorative certificate to the units with outstanding performance in the organization of the award application.

The Light of Internet Expo 2023 will focus on latest technological trends and contemporary hotspot issues in the global Internet sector. In line with the theme of the 2023 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit: “Creating an Inclusive and Resilient Digital World Beneficial to All -- Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace”, the Expo will focus on displaying and unveiling new technologies, products, and achievements in the field of the Internet. It aims to establish itself as a significant platform for global cooperation and exchange in the digital economy industry and demonstrate how the Internet is driving the development of human civilization, illuminating the era, and creating a better future for all.
This year, the Expo will consist primarily of exhibition showcases, with a focus on the release of new products and technologies, and the talent matching. It will also include a series of concurrent distinctive activities. In the exhibition functional section, offline displays will be combined with online virtual exhibitions. Emphasizing key words such as “intelligence, green, common prosperity, and security”, the offline section includes a Development Philosophy Area, exhibition areas highlighting themes such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, future smart manufacturing, digital villages, digital new infrastructure and cybersecurity, special exhibition areas for overseas exhibitors and business startups and innovations, and the “Future Life” Digital Experience Hall. For the online section, an upgraded platform, the “Light of Internet Cloud Exhibition Hall”, will remain active throughout the year. 500 renowned domestic and international companies and institutions will showcase the most advanced technologies and products through both online and offline channels. In the functional section dedicated to new products and technologies, more than 80 selected domestic and international companies and institutions will release their latest technologies, products, and achievements on the special stage for debut in the “Light of Internet” Conference Hall. In Talent Matching section, both online and offline channels are available. There will be offline face-to-face talent matching events and online job fairs in the digital economy sector, providing a precise matching platform between industrial talents and companies and institutions in this sector. In “the Light of the Decade” section, the special moments of the Expo over the past decade will be highlighted through the offline “Light of the Decade” tunnel and the online digital meta-space. Commemorative medals will be awarded to selected exhibitors and partners. Moreover, the commemorative medal “New Light” will be awarded to outstanding exhibits in 2023. Exhibitors will be invited to an appreciation banquet for further communication.

The 2023 Global Internet Competition of “Straight to Wuzhen” set up six themed competitions, including AI, Digital Medicine, Connected Vehicles, Industrial Internet, Intelligent Sensing and Digital Ocean and Aerospace, and one special AI-themed (Big Model and Digital Human) competition, combining global cutting-edge technology trends and focused industrial development areas. The Competition relaunched the regional chapers in Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America. Each themed competition is held in three stages: Online Preliminary, Semi-Final, and Grand Final. The winning projects in the Grand Final will jointly participate in the award ceremony held during the WIC.
