Digital technologies are breathing new life into a road that once connected ancient civilizations.

From July 21 to 22, the 2026 World Internet Conference Digital Silk Road Development Forum will be held in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

Under the theme "Pooling Intelligence on the Silk Road, Embarking on a Digital Future – Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace", the forum will bring together representatives from governments, international organizations, industry and academia to explore Silk Road e-commerce, AI agents, cultural heritage preservation, digital and intelligent health, and other emerging topics.

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
