The World Internet Conference (WIC) released the Collection of Cross-Border E-Commerce Practice Cases (2025) at the WIC Symposium on International Cross-Border E-Commerce held in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, on Sept 26.
The collection was presented by Liang Hao, executive deputy secretary-general of the WIC. Cross-border e-commerce, as a rapidly growing sector of global trade, has become a major driver of international commerce. Since its establishment in 2023, the WIC Working Group on Cross-Border E-Commerce has delivered a series of research outcomes, including reports on international rule-making, competitiveness studies, and the Collection of Cross-Border E-Commerce Practice Cases (2024).
To compile the 2025 edition, the WIC launched a global call for cases in June, gathering submissions through field research and targeted invitations. Following expert review, 87 representative cases were selected, covering governments, universities, research institutions, financial institutions, international organizations, industry associations, and enterprises.
The collection showcases practices across seven areas: digital platforms, trade enterprises, logistics and delivery, comprehensive services, integrated innovation, international cooperation, and government guidance. The digital platform cases offer innovative solutions in marketing and user engagement. Trade enterprise cases show how enterprises leverage digital tools to enhance branding and global outreach. Logistics and delivery solution cases use digital technologies to improve global efficiency. Comprehensive service cases include finance, compliance, and integrated support innovations. Integrated innovation cases showcase digital tools enabling SMEs to enter global markets. International cooperation cases focus on measures for supply chain collaboration and talent development. Government guidance cases feature public services and regulatory innovations.
Experts noted several emerging trends from the cases, including stronger branding strategies, wider use of AI and big data across supply chains, increased collaboration through online-offline integration, rising compliance awareness with localized teams and platforms, and deeper international cooperation in infrastructure and talent development.
WIC expressed the hope that the release of the collection will provide valuable references for the global e-commerce community, helping SMEs expand their international presence and benefit from the digital economy.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China.
