Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference (WIC), met with Patrick Nijs, former Belgian ambassador to China and co-founder of the Europe China Joint Innovation Center, in Brussels on June 26. The Europe China Joint Innovation Center is a member of the WIC organization. Ren expressed his appreciation for the center’s continued support for the WIC and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular exchanges between the two sides. He also extended an invitation to Nijs to attend major WIC events, including the Wuzhen Summit, which will take place later this year.

Nijs praised the WIC's pivotal role in advancing international exchange and cooperation in the internet sector. He expressed his hope to further deepen mutual understanding and engagement and to promote digital innovation and collaboration between China and Europe.


The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
