—Winner of Social Contribution under the 2024 World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award for Enterprises
Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau (CTM) has been honored with the 2024 World Internet Conference Distinguished Award for its social contributions. Since its establishment in October 1981, the company has emerged as a leading provider of integrated telecommunications services in Macao. Through its active investment in and promotion of the region's basic communication infrastructure and external communication links, it has firmly backed the Macao Special Administrative Region government's efforts to advance the "1+4" diversified industrial development strategy. This has enabled the local telecommunications sector to make ongoing contributions to the development of Macao's social economy and the well-being of its residents.
Since its inception, CTM has embraced the principle of "taking from the community and giving back to the community" and has been committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
The company actively supports initiatives to build a technologically advanced nation and develop smart cities. It promotes technology education by organizing tech experience events for citizens and science popularization lectures in schools. Additionally, CTM is dedicated to nurturing communication talents. Since the launch of its flagship "CTM Youth Development Program" in 2014, it has recruited 20 students annually for in-depth learning sessions across various CTM departments during summer vacations, as well as participation in company internships, community care initiatives, visits, new media live-streaming events, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area tours. These programs are designed to enhance the youth's understanding of the communication industry.
With a people-oriented development philosophy, CTM shows its care for different social groups through philanthropic donations, charitable activities, and scholarships. Leveraging its telecom resources, it also teams up with social welfare groups to offer customized services to those in need. Besides, the company actively encourages its employees to join in charitable services, creating an ideal working atmosphere. It has been awarded for its outstanding corporate volunteer services for seven consecutive years and won the Family-Friendly Employer Award for four years in a row across the region.
CTM has demonstrated a robust commitment to responsibility in the face of natural disasters and major events. As Macao's "custodian of communications," it ensures the security and stability of the region's communication network. These efforts have been recognized by the National Commission for Disaster Reduction, government departments, business organizations, and partners.
