—Winner of Social Contribution under the 2024 World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award for Enterprises

The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) is the largest utility company in the world and a globally influential innovator in the energy sector. It has ranked number one in the Brand Finance Utilities 50 for seven years running and is currently ranked 12th in the Brand Finance Global 500.

SGCC was recognized with the 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Distinguished Contribution Award for Enterprises for its outstanding efforts in advancing digital and intelligent power solutions that empower global green and low-carbon transition.

At the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit, SGCC showcased 34 comprehensive innovative achievements and nine cybersecurity innovations at the Light of the Internet Expo, demonstrating its progress in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and the development of new power systems. Among them, the Zhejiang Power Trading Center's green power consumption accounting application stood out. Built on State Grid chain, the largest public service platform of energy blockchain in China, the application verifies the origin of green certificates and ensures the authenticity and authority of the summit's green energy usage, enabling its organizers to prove their sustainability achievements. Notably, the country's first green conference power consumption accounting document was issued during the summit.

Following the realization of 100 percent green electricity supply for the summit last year, SGCC facilitated the acquisition of 510 green certificates for the Wuzhen Summit organizer this year, equivalent to over 500,000 kWh of green electricity. This ensured full coverage of green power supply before, during, and after the Wuzhen Summit, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 380 tons and achieving 100 percent  green power supply for the entire event.
