China Telecom Corporation: Accelerating release of new growth drivers through technological innovation

Focusing on four key technological domains, network, cloud and cloud-network integration, artificial intelligence, and quantum/safety technologies, the company has made breakthroughs in the original scientific research related to key technologies such as the national cloud platform, intelligent computing scheduling platform, general-purpose large models, quantum security, and satellite-to-mobile direct connectivity. In 2023, China Telecom received two first-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards and was named an outstanding enterprise for technological innovation among China's central State-owned enterprises.

China Telecom has also promoted the deep integration between technological innovation and industrial growth. It has strategically invested in seven emerging industries: cloud computing and computing power, next-generation information and communication technologies, big data, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, and digital platforms. China Telecom has also developed the Xingchen large model system, with its TeleChat2 model ranking among the top-tier Chinese language models. The contribution of these innovations to the company's incremental revenue has grown rapidly. In addition,China Telecom led the establishment of the World Broadband Association, a multilateral international platform designed to unite the global cloud-network industry chain and amplify its voice in global technological governance.

The World Internet Conference launched its Distinguished Contribution Award in 2024 to recognize individuals and enterprises that have made outstanding contributions to the global internet sector. The first award ceremony was held at last year's Wuzhen Summit, where seven global leaders and 14 renowned companies were honored.

The award for enterprises is divided into three categories: Social Contribution, Innovation Breakthrough, and Growth Potential. The winners come from diverse sectors, including internet platforms, mobile communications, artificial intelligence, chip design, energy and power, and cybersecurity.
