Artificial intelligence (AI) security will be a vital field of research as emerging technologies integrate with cloud computing, said Li Yuhang, foreign academician of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine and chairman of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), Greater China Region, at the "AI Governance and Sustainable Development: for Good and for All" Workshop during the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit in Hong Kong on April 14.

Li, also advisor to the WIC Specialized Committee on AI, emphasized the growing importance of AI security in the digital era.  

"The CSA is a global industry organization and among the first group of members of the WIC, " Li noted. The alliance has entered its Cloud Security 3.0 phase in 2024, evolving from its 1.0 and 2.0 eras. "We are now in the cloud computing era, where the integration of AI with cutting-edge technologies makes AI security research essential," he said.  

Li highlighted the Global Digital Compact proposed at the UN Future Summit in September 2024, noting that experts of the CSA Greater China Region played a significant role in its formulation, particularly in sections concerning AI and digital security. 

"We also launched AI training programs at the UN's Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs to provide lifelong learning for professionals," he added.  

The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
