The Large Artificial Intelligence Models Forum of the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit was held in Hong Kong on April 15.
Under the theme "Jointly Promote High-level Development and Application of Large Artificial Intelligence Models," the forum brought together global experts to explore key pathways for advancing the development of large artificial intelligence models, empowering a broad range of industries through technological breakthroughs, and injecting new momentum for high-quality economic growth.
Attendees included Kwame W.E. McCoy, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister of Guyana; Masoud Hamedanlou, Secretary of Information Technology Executive Council of Iran; Gisa Fuatai Purcell, Regulator of the Office of the Regulator, Government of Samoa; Sun Weimin, Chief Engineer of the Cyberspace Administration of China; Jiang Peixue, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of Tsinghua University; and Ir Tony Wong, JP, Commissioner for Digital Policy of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Experts including Chon Kilnam, Professor Emeritus at KAIST, Schahram Dustdar, Member of Academia Europaea and Professor of Computer Science at TU Wien, joined key executives from leading enterprises and institutions including Wumart, Sina, Zhihu, HONOR, Cisco, Baiwang, YIXIN, the JSC Development Fund of Georgia, and the Hong Kong Generative AI Research & Development Center. They shared insights on topics including Generalized and Specialized Development of Large Artificial Intelligence Models, Opportunities and Challenges in Convergence of Large Artificial Intelligence Models, and Multimodal Applications and High-performance Computing.
As part of the WIC Think Tank Cooperation Program, four research reports were officially unveiled at the forum, including The Evolution of the New Unmanned Economy in the Age of LLM as Foundational Infrastructure by China Telecom Research Institute Esurfing Think Tank; Trend Analysis of Artificial Intelligence in the Future-Application Practices and Prospects of Large Language Model in China's Artificial Intelligence Industry by Research Institute of China Unicom; Research Report on AI-Empowered Integrated Development of Real and Digital Economies by China Mobile Think Tank (CMTT); and Empowering Global Knowledge Workers: AI, Productivity Tools, and the New Ways of Work by Yinxiang Biji Research Institute.
In addition, the Digital Policy Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) released the Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Technical and Application Guideline at the event.
The forum was hosted by the WIC, organized by the HKSAR Government, and co-organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the HKSAR Government, with support from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Phoenix Media Group.
Participants from government departments, international organizations, enterprises, universities, and research institutions around the world attended the forum.
The World Internet Conference (WIC) was established as an international organization on July 12, 2022, headquartered in Beijing, China. It was jointly initiated by Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), Alibaba Group, Tencent, and Zhijiang Lab.
