Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference (WIC), met with Ricky Corker, executive vice-president and Chief Customer Experience Officer, on Jan 25 in Beijing.

Ren welcomed Nokia’s delegation, expressing gratitude for the company’s active participation in and support for WIC events. He mentioned that Nokia has frequently sent senior executives to attend the WIC Wuzhen Summit, joined the WIC Working Group on Artificial Intelligence, and contributed to the drafting of related reports and consensus documents.

Nokia, as a globally renowned telecommunications enterprise, has witnessed and deeply participated in the development of the global telecom industry, making significant contributions to accelerating digital transformation, Ren noted. He added that the WIC is ready to build a global internet platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and continue extensive and in-depth cooperation with Nokia to jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

Ricky thanked the WIC for its support and recognition of Nokia. He said that since implementing new company and technology strategy last year, Nokia has entered a new development phase and become a leader where networks meet cloud.

Nokia will continue to support the WIC, strengthen innovative cooperation with China’s industries, and facilitate China’s modernization in various dimensions such as 5G, standardization, R&D and supply chains, said Ricky.

Relevant representatives of the WIC, Ma Jie, chairman of Nokia Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd, and the company’s CEO Markus Borchert, attended the meeting.
