The 13th China Satellite Navigation Conference (CSNC2022) was held in Beijing, China from April 26 to 28, 2023. WIC members such as IBM, China Arab TV, and Lenovo, attended the Conference by invitation.

With the theme of “Digital Economy, Intelligent Navigation”, the Annual Conference organized 22 academic exchanges and high-level forums, covering Achievement Expo and science popularization activities. It aims to strengthen academic, theoretical and technological innovation, and promote cooperation and exchanges, engineering construction, and scientific development of satellite navigation systems (SNS).

During the Conference, representatives from WIC and its members attended the first BDS/GNSS Global Partner Forum and engaged in exchanges on industry applications, multilateral cooperation and international education of BDS. Six co-chairs of the Forum drafted, signed and released the Joint Initiative of BDS/GNSS Global Partners.

In addition, representatives from WIC and its members also visited the BDS Achievement Expo to gain a deeper understanding of the SNS technologies, application and industry development. They also established cooperative ties with exhibitors on international cooperation in the field of SNS.

Since its completion, the BeiDou-3 Global System has been accepted and recognized by more and more international users. Now, BeiDou has been used in civil aviation, maritime affairs, transportation, disaster prevention, mobile communication, agricultural production, urban governance, wildlife protection and other fields. It has accelerated the integration into the international industrial system.

For example, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology based on BDS has greatly improved the efficiency of plant protection operations in Mozambique, Africa. BDS assisted surveying and mapping operations for the construction of a hospital in Burkina Faso, during which the efficiency of surveying and mapping has been siginificantly imrpoved. The completion of the hospital played an important role in the prevention and treatment of local infectious diseases. BeiDou’s high-precision positioning is playing an important role in Asia, such as in the deformation monitoring for Sarez Lake Dam, the completion of China-Kyrgyzstan-Urumqi highway, and the monitoring of China-Kazakhstan Crude Oil Pipeline…

In 2022, “BeiDou System – Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Time-Space Network” was selected as an Outstanding Case of “Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace” at the WIC Wuzhen Summit. Ran Chengqi, Director of China’s Satellite Navigation Office, presented the case on site.
