2022 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit to kick off on Nov 9

The 2022 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit is scheduled to take place from November 9 to 11 in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province, according to a press conference held in Beijing on Monday.

Themed on "Towards a Shared Digital Future in a Connected World - Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace", the summit will be held both online and offline this year.

This year's event is the first summit to be convened by the WIC since the inauguration of the international organization in July. With worldwide attention, it will bring together over 2,000 representatives from governments, international organizations, industry associations, Chinese and foreign internet enterprises, universities and research institutes from over 120 countries and regions, who are expected to hold exchanges and contribute their wisdom and insights on the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

Sub-forums will be held during the three-day summit to discuss four major topics, namely cooperation & development, technology & industry, culture & society, and governance & security. It will also feature a series of activities such as the Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, the Release & Presentation of Outstanding Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace, the Light of Internet Expo Conference and the "Straight to Wuzhen" Global Internet Competition, as well as the release of two reports - the "China Internet Development Report 2022" and the "World Internet Development Report 2022".

The upcoming summit will be held by the WIC and undertaken by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, with the support of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA).

Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC, Wang Gang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and head of the provincial publicity department, and Yu Huiyou, secretary of the CPC Tongxiang Municipal Committee, attended the press conference and took questions from the media. The press conference was chaired by Liang Hao, executive vice secretary-general of the WIC.
